DATE::::::1/2/1995 TOPIC:::::THE MIRO DC1 tv CARD and THE INTEL PREMIERE II MOTHERBOARD PROBLEM:::Getting the Miro Windows Driver to setup in Windows Control Panel. SOLUTION::The authors system utilizes Flash Bios version 10. The important motherboard *-Bios Setup Setting-* to accomodate add-in cards requiring an address space in the conventional upper memory area occurs on the Peripheral Setup page, and specifically in the ISA Shared Memory field of the "Plug n'Play" Page. The upper memory is by default shadowed in this system. It is important to prevent this shadowing in the area of the add-in card on-board Bios. Locate the Bios Page and field mentioned above and press Enter on this field to select the amount of Ram to be set aside as non-shadowed. For the Miro card the correct value is 16K. After this is set, a new field appears allowing selection of the starting address of this 16K of memory. In the Miro cards case, CC00 worked well, but other selections are available here and in the driver setup in Windows Control Panel. NOTE:-->>>In addition to excluding the memory from shadowing here, be sure to exclude the same region (ie CC00-CCFF) in EMM386 memory manager in CONFIG.SYS using the command X=CC00-CCFF on the EMM386 line, and also insert the line EMMExclude=CC00-CCFF in SYSTEM.INI [386enh] section. CLOSING:::Another consideration with this combo is hard drive speed. The Intel Premiere onboard PCI IDE interface allows the use of modern IDE drives (eg Western Digital Caviar series) which has a tremendously positive effect on saving 30fps vidio with no dropped frames. Good Luck with this great setup.
